Whare Whakatika in Palmerston North was set up specifically to provide people being deported to New Zealand somewhere to live whilst starting their reintegration journey.

While living in the house, field workers are there to assist with all of the initial reintegration needs such as financial support, ID, bank account and help with connecting with family/whanau back in Australia. Ongoing social support is provided along with help with employment and finding independent accommodation.

Palmerston North is in the central region of the North Island of New Zealand and is in close proximity to the east and west coasts, and the capital city, Wellington. It has good infrastructure with plenty of work available in a range of industries. It also has a thriving academic and farming sector.

After your initial settling in period, if you wish to relocate to another community, we can assist you with that also. Palmerston North can be a permanent home, or a steppingstone on your reintegration journey.
